Masters swimming London

Spencer Swim Team is a large, successful masters swimming club, established 40 years ago. Our Members are mixed ability and ages. We offer seven coached training sessions weekly and affiliate to the London Region Amateur Swimming Association.

Why Join Us?

Members join us for lots of reasons. Over half our Membership participate in competitions. Others love the discipline of coached training; the camaraderie of training with others to help keep fit; or to enhance the swim section of their triathlon.

How to Join

Joining Spencer Swim Team is easy. Please read our guidance in the About UsJoin Us and Training sections of this website. If you think you might like to join, then contact and you will be invited along to a FREE trial session before deciding. During the Covid-19 pandemic we have restrictions on the number of swimmers in the pool. We are operating a waiting list for free trials and we will endeavour to get you in and swimming as soon as possible.

More Info

Spencer Swim Team was founded in 1977 as a competitive swimming Club, specialising in providing Masters swimming training and competing in Masters competitions. In fact our Club has been the GB Masters Club Champions in: 2007 (Manchester), 2009 (Cardiff), 2011 (Leeds), 2013 (Plymouth), 2014 (Swansea).

We are based in South London and hold training sessions in Dulwich, Crystal Palace, Putney Leisure Centre and Tooting. We are open to adults of any age. Training is led by Head Coach Steve Baker, an Institute of Swimming Tutor and UKCC and ASA level 3 coach.

We provide 7 coached sessions per week, training every day except Friday.

Our policy of multiple lane hire at all our pools enables Members to train with others of similar ability, so if you’ve not trained for a few decades, don’t worry! We pride ourselves on a relaxed, friendly poolside atmosphere – turn up to the training sessions when it suits you. We also aim to have regular socials at Masters swimming competitions and Club organised events and this is underpinned by an active Club Facebook page, open to Members.

Our Club is run by a Committee of volunteers from the Membership.
