Successful first day for Spencer at Swim South East Masters

It was a very successful first day in the first big meet of the season, the South East regional championships, with the team winning 9 gold, 6 Silver and 7 bronze medals and setting our first British record of the season.
Geoff Stokes (79), Barney Miller (89), Richard Harding (85) and Peter Stephens (71) were the first ever 320-359 age group team to swim 4×100 freestyle and claimed the British record in a time of 8.50.05. Amazingly, they also won gold in the 240+ age group.
The 240+ 4×50 medley team of Godfrey Admans, Simon Goulter, Cristian Rentsch and Steve Baker also won gold, while the 160+ team of Olegas Petrikas, Luca Milana, Clive Benson and Simon Berrey (pictured) took Silver.
With three of the original women’s team sick, Esther Iseppi, Suzanne Maidment, Abba Newbery and Sara Luder stepped up to take 4th place in the 200+ 4×50 medley in a hard fought battle with less than 3 seconds separating 2nd to 5th places.
