Runaway win at BBQ Meet

Spencer romped to success at the friendly meet vs. Barnes Masters this afternoon at St Paul’s Boys School, bringing home the trophy donated by former Spencer and now Barnes swimmer, Tony Pearce, for the second year in a row. Each club fielded under 45 and over 45 men’s and women’s teams.

We set the scene in the first two events, the Medley Teams, and never looked back, taking a 1-2 in several events.

Well done Team, with special thanks to Georgie and Ed for stepping into the backstroke events at short notice and to Sasha, our timekeeper, who also swam a sneaky 50 for Barnes in a relay. Claudia won the prize for the furthest distance travelled, flying in from Germany for the event – no way could Barnes compete with that dedication and team spirit!

Women under 45: Barbara Halls, Lucie Butterworth, Georgina Quayle, Nadine Horn, Rachel Holifield

Women over 45: Claudia Goldschmidt, Deborah Lacy, Lisa Hibberd, Jessica Rathke, Amanda Heath

Men under 45: Ollie Samy, Olegas Petrikas, Max Moreira, Rob Tate

Men Over 45: Clive Benson, Luca Milana, Ed Hill, Steve Baker

Thanks to Barnes for hosting a great afternoon. The BBQ was enjoyed by all and the chocolate brownies for dessert were amazing.
