It was an exhausting day at the Duna Arena yesterday, with Spencer fielding 8 teams in the relay events. The Men’s 120+ Medley team of Greg Kahn (back 29.02) Jason Lawson (breast 29.74), Jack Marriott (fly 23.80) and Freddie White (free 24.93) swam a stunning British record time of 1.47.49, with Freddie holding on to touch home in third spot. After an agonising wait for the official results, we were elevated to silver medal position as one of the other teams had taken a flyer. The same team had earlier placed 4th in the 4×50 free, with Jason leading off on a 23.80, followed by Jack on 23.40, Freddie on 24.99 and Greg on 25.22. Total time of 1.37.41 was also a new British record.
At the other end of the age categories, the Mixed 280+ Medley Team of Nigel Salsbury, Diane Ford, Amanda Heath and Tony Cherrington won 4th place medals in a time of 2.42.11.
The 240+ ladies teams just missed out on the medals, with Claudia Goldschmidt, Di Ford, Amanda Heath and Jessica Rathke claiming 7th place in the free team and 8th in the Medley.
The 280+ Men, Nigel Salsbury, Morris Dick/Geoff Stokes, Cristian Rentsch and Tony Cherrington were 12th in both medley and free teams.
And the 200+ Mixed Free team of Greg Kahn, Claudia Goldschmidt, Suzanne Maidment and Cristian Rentsch were 21st in 2.00.54.
Well done all, fantastic racing!
