Meet a member – Esther

Esther is an out-of-town member who lives in Guernsey but she has been competing regularly for Spencer since 2011, and is a core member of our record-breaking relay teams. Although she loved the water as a child, she did not start proper swim training until she was twenty, quickly adding butterfly and IM to her breaststroke. Although she is busy as the managing director of a Guernsey licensed trust company, she still manages to fit in an impressive seven to nine swim sessions a week plus some land/core training. Amanda Heath (pictured with Esther) persuaded her to join Spencer originally, and Esther’s current target is to get back to racing in the same age category as Amanda when Esther ages up to 60+ in 2018. Esther has had many successes in the pool, most recently winning a gold, two silvers and a bronze in her individual events at the 2017 World Masters Games in Auckland, but it is her love of swimming shines through. She takes her training very seriously but she also sees the pool as her playground where everyone should be having fun.
