Day 2 in the pool at the World Masters Championships started off well for Spencer and just got better and better. In the 200 backstroke Grace Isaac and Kath Tunnicliffe both placed 4th in their age groups, winning medals and diplomas. Cristian Rentsch was just out of the medals in 8th place.
On to the 100 free and Kath was back in the water for a brilliant big bronze medal, making it a GB 1/3 with Jayne Stephenson winning the event. Geoff Stokes won his second bronze of the meet, while Jean Howard Jones won a stunning silver medal, after dislocating her knee earlier in the morning and being doubtful for the start. (Needless to say it popped back in, but not without significant pain).
There was more drama for Suzanne Maidment, who completely missed her turn, but was credited with a 16th place.
Also in the 100 free Nigel Salsbury swam into 11th place in the 75-79 age group, and Sasha Forster swam out of her skin to 18th place in the 35-39 age group with a 1.14.86.
The final event of the day was the women’s 100 breastroke, which brought us 2 golds and a bronze. Diane Ford defended her title and made a new Championship record in a time of 1.43.77, while Esther Iseppi won the 60-64 age group with Amanda Heath finishing in third place.
